FAST FASHION

In the SLB By Design module of my studies, we were tasked with raising an issue that interested us. I wanted to raise the issue of ‘Fast Fashion’ in a way that is pleasing to the eye, but with underlying thought.

A few years ago, I developed a love for fashion. Although I used to let my mother dress me, I now see fashion as a big part of my identity. When I wear something nice (and preferably original), I feel more myself.

I can also enjoy fashion magazines like Gucci. I have a great love for photography and find it inspiring to see how they style the clothes, match and make everything a whole with the background.

At the same time, much of the fashion industry goes strongly against my principles. Child labour, water wastage, CO2 emissions, and the short-lived lives of these far too cheap clothes. That’s why I buy most of my clothes from thrift stores, sustainable brands or through Vinted.

When you think of the thrift store or Vinted, you don’t immediately think of high fashion. But what would it be like to combine these two things? Hence this photo series.
